Another senseless accident

Last night a 15 year old was hurt in a roll over after drinking and leaving a party. First we need to have stiffer penalties for adults who supply teenagers with alcohol and drugs. At least this one will live to talk and about it. Not so long ago my niece and son lost a friend of theirs to alcohol, she was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled and it crushed her, she was discovered a short time later as another teen left the same party. I am just thankful that my niece or son wasn't on the road at the same time. But if you think that deterred any of the kids in our community from drinking think again, not a chance, just last weekend there was a party busted and 11 minors written, and the host taken to jail, oh yeah he was tazzered too that night! Damn the luck, would have paid to watch him flailing around and screaming like a girl :)

I can't wait to have our first B.U.D.D Mobile, I only hope that I get calls for rides more than anything, I want so much to make a difference, especailly the type of difference that isn't noticed, it isn't noticed because you don't find out what could have been if you had driven..... does that make sense. There have been more times than I could count that I have driven someone home and along the way passsed someone and thought if So and So had been driving would they have ended thier life? Or thier own life, I would rather get a call at 2 am aksing for a ride than someone else getting that 2 am call "I am sorry to have to tell you..."

Super Freak!

Okay so with everything B.U.D.D being new I posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a cheap hearse, I wanted to get my point across that drinking and driving kills. Someone emails me back totally going off on me telling me that I shouldn't drink and drive and that it is illegal- ( NO SHIT) so I kindly email him back and explain that my campaign is against drunk drivers and he proceeds to call me a liar that I only am changing my story to get his car.
WOW I thought people with that type of paranoid schizophrenia didn't like computers, guess I was wrong! It was WAY PAST MEDICATION TIME for that looser. Anyhow after a few more choice emails I blocked him, didn't want to feed his problem anymore than I had already let him bait me into doing. But really is anyone that ignorant to think that someone would campaign to support being a drunken idiot behind the wheel? I guess so.
But on to better news, I am getting ready to film our first commercial, of course it will only hit you tube but I think it will get enough of a reaction to bring in some great support!
I want to roll out the first B.U.D.D Mobile before prom this year, I think it would be really cool to take some of the kids around in the B.U.D.D Mobile to get a good solid message out to the younger croud too!

Keep watching us and remember if you want to help support B.U.D.D you can donate at the chip in or you can get a great vacation from www.simplefundraiser.com and they will dontate money to us for you!

A New Begining

Okay so the whole Facebook thing is fizzling fast, I can't believe that there are more fans or followers of stupid crap than one that wants to rage against drunk drivers, and no one even makes a comment. The ones that are trying to be socially correct and appear that they care follow but no one really gives a crap. So I am going to take my cause to the public even more I am determined to find and in your face statement that people can't ignore.

I am going to buy a hears and paint the names of people lost to drunk drivers all over it and drive it cross country. Don't know how I am going to afford it but that is my goal and I am determined enough to make it happen. Anyone who wants to have the name of someone they lost painted can let me know I would be glad to add it to the car. My son is even on board with this, he wants to take it to school and cruise in it, not that he thinks driving a hears is cool but he believes in the whole purpose behind this, he has lost friends to drunk drivers too and knows it is a BIG problem!

I did find one way to try to afford this Simplefundraiser, if I can find people to buy a Timeshare Promo and attend the presentation then they will donate money to my cause. Keep an eye out for a link so you can buy one from me and help spread the word that there are other options, ones that keep people alive!

Day One Facebook

Well I started the Facebook page and within a few hours we have over 40 members who support Not drinking and driving. Not bad for a start!
Here is the thing though stupid senseless things get more followers quickly than a cause than something that has a point to it. Is our world really becoming so self centered that we can't take the time to stand up for something worthwhile?
My next project is to start raising money for my first BUDD mobile.

First and Foremost

I know there is a brief About Me Section to list a Bio but that is never enough room to really tell someone about you or what you are about.

Well I have Teenage children and teen nieces and nephews, and in the last year they have lost three friends to Drunk Driving accidents. Maybe three isn't a large number when you compare this to the thousands lost every year (37,261 in 2008) but for the person who has lost someone even One is One to many! But to also put this in perspective we live in a very small community and to have a growing number of young lives lost to this 100% preventable cause is the reason I have started this Blog and B.U.D.D, (BACK UP DESIGNATED DRIVER). There has been many times my son has called me and told me the truth "Mom I am at a party and my friends are drinking, can I stay later and make sure they get home?" Granted I am not happy he is at a party with alcohol but I know he has taken my rantings to be safe to heart and is looking out for his friends too.
It has now come to the point that my son's friends trust me to get them home or somewhere safe if they have been drinking- I will state this right off I don't condone underage drinking but if a teenager calls me for a sober ride in the middle of the night I am going to give it to them without question. And if a parent wants to be mad at me for getting their child home alive and not telling them about the drinking as opposed to the kid trying to drive themselves then that is something I will just have to live with.
So in a nutshell that is what this blog is about, getting the message out that there is always someone somewhere that you can trust to get you home safely. I have put a Chip In Widget on my home page asking for donations to B.U.D.D because the number of rides is growing and I want to keep up. I plan on purchasing a vehicle used specifically for B.U.D.D and for anyone who contributes even $1 they can send the name of a lost loved one and the date of the loss to have that name and date permanently painted on the vehicle for display as our B.U.D.D 1.
We can make a difference! Not every person who drives drunk kills someone, some are lucky and get away with it, but for the ones that don't the ripple effect of the pain can never be measured or undone.
